Blush Magic

I love spring's many everywhere, blue skies and sunnier days.  To honor the season, I love to wear pink makeup.

Applying bright colors can be a little tricky, but luckily the girls at AECO brushes recently gifted me a set.  The brushes are amazing, affordable and I think you'll love them.  They are very dense and soft, and super fluffy and comfortable on my sensitive skin.

A lot of sets are sold out right now, but they are re-stocking as fast as they can (a testimony to the high quality of the brushes!) Best of all, they are super affordable, with most individual brushes under $5 and full sets that cost no more than $30!

The girls behind these brushes are two local OC college friends.  I love supporting local businesses, especially ones run by young girlbosses!  You go girls! Delivering affordable, high quality products is no easy feat, so can we get a round of applause for these babes please?!

The products I'm wearing are listed below.  Remember to start with a perfect foundation canvas, and finish it with a setting powder.  First, use a pointed fluffy brush to apply your contour powder. Then take a fluffy round brush, and apply a bright pink blush to the apples of your cheeks, blend out and upwards towards your hairline for rosy high cheekbones.  If you'd like more details, just comment below! You can click on each picture to make it bigger and see how I blend my colors.

Wake Up & Makeup

Hi my loves!

Sorry my posts have been far and few between.  I've been extra busy at work and traveling every weekend, so it's been tough.  All part of being a #girlboss right?  I noticed that there was a lot of interest in my makeup look on a recent instagram post, so I thought I'd share a quick tutorial with you of what I did.

My skin is looking extra glowy lately because I amped up my routine.  I've been cleansing with my Clarisonic.  Then at night, I apply Drunk Elephant's All TLC Frambois Glycolic Acid Serum.  I let that dry, then I use Clinique's Super Rescue Night Moisture Cream on top.  During the day,  I apply Drunk Elephant's C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum.  I let it set, then apply a moisturizer with sunscreen like Kate Somerville's Daily Deflector.

I think this routine really works for me because the Clarisonic gives me a deep clean.  The glycolic acid serum exfoliates my skin, getting rid of dead skin cells and over time getting rid of fine lines.  The vitamin c serum brightens and evens out my skin tone.  I swear you'll see the difference immediately.  I  am really loving Drunk Elephant's products, as they are eco-friendly, natural, fragrance free, packaged to maximize antioxidant shelf life, and they really really work.  Seriously not sponsored, I'm just obsessed and can't wait to try more.  Ask for a sample at Sephora and see for yourself!

I've been keeping my makeup pretty simple lately-focusing on good skin and good lip colors. In the photo I'm wearing Tarte's new lip paint in "tbt" with the matching lip liner.  I have super dry lips so lip paints normally don't work on me, but since this contains maracuja oil, it is pretty hydrating and i was able to wear it for about 6 hours comfortably.

I've also been wearing Bite Beauty's new Amuse Bouche lipstick line.  the colors are really pigmented and go on completely opaque with one swipe.  They're also super hydrating, but also wear pretty well for being so moisturizing.  I would say that I can wear it for 4 hours (eating included) without having to touch up.  I love the citrus scent!

Remember, for the perfect lipstick application, let your lips first soak up some Aquaphor, then scrub them with a warm damp towel to get rid of any flakes, and follow with a matte lip balm or lipstick primer like Mac's prep and prime lip.  Line your lips, being sure to fill in a bit with the liner, then apply the color on top. This will ensure a full pout that lasts!

Let me know what colors you try and what makeup tricks you want me to write about!

LA Winter

It's been so "cold" in LA!  When I wake up and it's in 40s...that's pretty darn cold for SoCal okay ;) All I want to wear is sweats...but this past weekend I decided to dress up for an adventurous day to the Griffith Observatory.

I'm wearing OTK boots from Forever 21 (sold out but similar here & here), vest from zara (on sale!), leather mini skirt from bb dakota (similar here), a turtleneck from j.crew (on sale!) and carrying my YSL wallet on a chain (my versionlambskin version).

For my makeup, I went for a natural smokey eye.  The widget below lists all the products I used!  My makeup application is done in this order: eyebrows, eyeshadow, foundation, concealer, setting powder, contour powder, blush, lashes, lips.  Let me know if you want to see a specific tutorial!  I've been using the new Velvet Noir mascara from Marc Jacobs beauty, which I received to test & review from Influenster (sign up for free stuff!) and I really love it.  It gives me major volume when I'm not wearing lashes, and when I am, it's super dark color helps blend my real & falsies.

Thanks for reading! How are you staying cozy this winter? Do you have any special spots in LA you think I should go visit?  Let me know!
