Wealth & Wellness

Happy 2016!

As we kick off the new year, I'm sitting here wondering what my resolutions are going to be, and I keep on coming back to two themes: wealth and wellness.  I wanted to share with you how I plan to achieve both in the coming year!

At first glance, accumulating wealth might seem like a shallow, materialistic goal to have for the year.  But I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to be financially secure.  As a young woman in my mid-twenties, it's important to me that I start saving for the really big things (no, not Louboutins haha).  Things like buying a house, purchasing a new car, and paying off my law school loans isn't going to happen overnight.  It requires planning and patience.  This year I'm being proactive, and looking for ways to save and invest my dollar.

For example, I'm refinancing my student loans into a much lower fixed rate.   After looking at all my options, I found the best plan for me and as a result, I should save A LOT.  I know we often shy away from talking money, but I'm super excited for this really big adult decision I've made that will help me in the long run.  (Psst e-mail me if you might be interested, I'll connect you with my banker).  I'm also opening my 401K and maybe an IRA.  I feel like I'm really adulting!

I think saving and investing are invaluable skills, and I hope that some of my fellow girl bosses will consider making some major financial moves this year. Wealth is not just about money, it's about peace of mind.  So here's to spending less and saving more!  And also, hustling hard, and making more.  I hope that this year I can connect with all of my readers, and we can help each other's dreams come true.

Every year I also set a goal to improve my wellness.  This year, because work has been taking over my life and keeping me out of the gym, I don't have super lofty fitness goals.  I just want to make it to my mat and practice yoga 3x a week.  That's all.  I believe in setting achievable goals that make me feel good, rather than pushing myself too hard and being disappointed. On the weekends, I'm going to try and make sure I do something active.

Despite my lack of time, I'm hoping to be able to cook more at home, planning to pack my lunch most of the time.  In this next year, I hope to share more recipes on the blog with you guys.  Look for some towards the end of the month!

What are your goals for the year?  Share them with me!  Can I help you achieve them?  I love each of you so much and hope I can blog more this year so we can share our adventures together!

stay gold,

Tiffany

Resolutions

Hello There!

girlboss

Happy New Year!  I know I'm a little late to the party--but I've been recovering from all the festivities.  I started a detox on Monday and I feel great!  I'll be sharing recipes and tips on how to do a whole food cleanse here and on my instagram all next week!

With a new year comes new resolutions.  I thought I'd share a few of mine, and hopefully you'll share a few of yours!  If you have any tips to help me with my resolutions, I'd love your advice.

FIRST:

I am making a commitment to my health-physical, emotional, and spiritual.  As many of you know, I love working out, cooking healthy meals, and doing yoga.  The problem is, I don't do these things consistently.  This year, I want to stay committed to my well being.  I believe that we spend a lot of our time overcommitting to "stuff" that doesn't necessarily make our lives better.  It's time to say no to what doesn't matter and start saying yes to what does--like taking care of ourselves.

SECOND:

I am going to be positive! I've been reading Susie Pearl's "Instructions for Happiness and Success" which is based on the law of attraction.  Essentially, you have believe great things are going to happen in order for great things to happen.  It seems like a simple concept but I honestly struggle with it.  As an attorney (to be) I tend to overanalyze situations and think about all the things that might go wrong.  I've noticed however, when I believe that good things are going to happen, the goodness keeps flowing in.  So this year, I want to maintain a positive mindset, because I know it's going to be an amazing year.

THIRD:

I want to love without fear.  Life is hard.  It tests you, scares you, and crushes you.  But it's also beautiful--it shows you what you can achieve, how strong you are, and how much love your heart is capable of.  There have been a few (okay maybe more) times where I wanted to give up on love.  I wanted to hide behind my walls, freeze my heart in a pretty glass box, and basically be Elsa.  But what is a life without love?  Happiness is love (according to me and this Harvard study).  So even though it seems damn near impossible, I want to have this be a year of love without worry.  Wish me luck :)

Whew, that was pretty long, and if you made it through, thanks for reading.  2014 was an amazing year. I finally launched this blog that I'd been dreaming about for so long.  I feel like I win the lotto every time I see someone read a post, so thank you so much to each and every one of you!  May 2015 be a year of growth--for me, for you, and for our little gold book.  Cheers!

stay gold,

Tiffany

Letter from the Editor: Grateful

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's been a while since my last post--things have been super hectic!  Life can be a whirlwind sometimes, and even though there's a million things on my to-do list, I always try to embrace the messiness and be grateful for my very real, imperfect, and beautiful life.

This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for:

my amazing family for laughing through the craziness with me

my wonderful boyfriend for loving me and being my better half

my ridiculously fun and loyal friends and the epic adventures we have together

all of my readers and supporters and being able to launch my blog this year

good food, great weather, and the best life a girl could ask for

My mom is currently cooking up a storm in the kitchen, I'm studying and decorating (yes simultaneously and somewhat successfully) and everyone is on their way to the house.  I feel so blessed and I hope you do too!

Share with me what you're most thankful for!  What traditions does your family honor this time of year?  I'd love to hear.  Have an amazing holiday and look forward to some more posts soon!

stay gold,
