It's finally feeling like fall in Southern California (by that I mean it's 80 degrees instead of 100) and so I thought it would be the ideal time to share with you an outfit from Paris. Paris is one of my favorite cities in the world. Cliche, I know, but there's something magical about the way the clouds swirl about and the Parisians strolling along the seine looking ever so chic, even at 6am on a Tuesday. And don't get me started on the pastries. I try to be healthy, but I'm a carbivore at heart...and those damn croissants au buerre get me every single time. I mean literally every time I walk past a bakery. Which is often in Paris. Good thing I had to walk a lot :)
We only had a whirlwind 3 days in Paris...and I tried to squeeze everything in but of course I failed. After having a meltdown...my boyfriend reminded me to drink some wine, eat a croissant, and relax. I felt much better after :) My favorite bakery chain in Paris is Eric Kayser. If you can get to it, I hear Du Pain et Des Idees is amazing. I have yet to make it but I can't wait to go back! Gerard Mulot, Pierre Herme, and Lauduree of course also having amazing pastries!
One of my favorite tourist sites in Paris is the Palace of Versailles. I've been twice and still want to go back! It's absolutely stunning and it's so enormous there is always more to see. I was happy to see all the flowers in bloom...can you imagine living in a place like that? I think I would pass out from the excitement. But hopefully I wouldn't get executed. I'd like to think I'd be a bit more clever than poor Marie.
Paris was just starting to cool down when we arrived. I welcomed scarf weather with open arms, as I was dying for a respite from the heat of Venice and Barcelona (photos of those to be shared another time...) I love picking up scarves from street vendors in Europe. It's one of my favorite gifts to bring home, for my friends and for myself.
Paris is known to be one of the most romantic cities in the world, and I find it to be absolutely true. To make our mark, Brian and I added a gold (of course!) love lock to the bridge. It might be cliche, but to me, it was such a special way for us to commemorate our first trip to Europe together. Here's to many more adventures!
We ran around the city on our last day trying to beat sunset so we could snap some more photos. Here I'm in front of the Grand Palais. I'm wearing this jacket from Zara (a Spain exclusive but this one is very similar), a bodycon midi skirt from Vince Camuto , and Sam Edelman flats. My scarf and crossbody bag are from a street vendor in the Florence leather market (similar here and here). My rings are Tiffany & Co mixed with some vintage pieces.
Paris has my heart because it's a city that cherishes beauty and art in every way. At each corner, hidden in little alleyways and behind stately doors, there's something lovely and romantic to be discovered. I can't wait to visit again and hope you get to go too! If you've been, what are some of your favorite places so I can add them to my itinerary next time?
